Tron DAO has announced a significant shift in its oracle solution provider, transitioning from WinkLink to Chainlink. This change will affect Tron’s decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, particularly JustLend and JustStable, which collectively hold over $6.5 billion in total value locked (TVL).
In a recent press release, Tron DAO confirmed that its DeFi ecosystem would now utilize Chainlink’s Data Feeds for pricing data. The move is expected to enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of the Tron blockchain.
Boosting Tron’s DeFi Ecosystem
Tron’s involvement in the Chainlink Scale program aims to accelerate the growth and adoption of its ecosystem. Initially, Tron will cover operational costs associated with Chainlink’s oracle networks, such as gas fees, but plans to transition these expenses to decentralized application (DApp) user fees in the future.
Thodoris Karakostas, Chainlink Labs’ head of blockchain partnerships, emphasized that this collaboration will empower Tron developers to create advanced DeFi applications and contribute to the decentralized internet. Sam Elfarra, spokesperson for Tron DAO, echoed these sentiments, stating that joining the Chainlink Scale program will help expedite Tron’s DeFi development.
Tron Founder Justin Sun announced this integration during Chainlink SmartCon, highlighting the potential for Chainlink to enhance Tron-based stablecoins and facilitate real-world asset (RWA) applications.
Memecoins Drive Record Revenue for Tron
In addition to its DeFi advancements, Tron’s memecoin ecosystem continues to be a significant revenue generator. The launchpad SumPump has contributed to a record quarterly revenue of $151.2 million for Tron in Q3 2024, marking a 30% increase from the previous quarter, according to research firm Messari.
Between August 12 and September 30, over 89,000 tokens were launched on SunPump, resulting in a remarkable 487% rise in DeFi transactions for Tron during that period. However, it’s worth noting that the pace of new token launches on the memecoin platform slowed in September, dropping to under 1,000 daily.
