Revolut, the British fintech firm, has announced a new partnership with Ledger, enabling customers in select European Economic Area (EEA) countries to explore cryptocurrency through the Ledger Live app. This integration was revealed in a joint statement on Wednesday.
Expanded Crypto Access for Revolut Customers
With this new feature, users of the Ledger Live app in most EEA nations can now buy cryptocurrencies using their Revolut accounts or cards. Revolut, which began as a money transfer service in the UK in 2015, has expanded its services to include cryptocurrency trading and management since 2017.
Seamless Crypto Transactions for Verified Users
Customers who have completed the identity verification process on Revolut will be able to purchase crypto on Ledger Live without needing additional checks. Those who are not Revolut users can complete their identity verification through an integrated Know Your Customer (KYC) process and then use Visa or Mastercard for transactions.
A joint statement from Ledger and Revolut emphasized that the collaboration aims to broaden access to cryptocurrency and simplify the introduction to digital assets, Web3, and self-custody. “This partnership is a significant step in our mission to securely and seamlessly onboard users to Web3,” said Emil Urmanshin, Crypto General Manager at Revolut. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Ledger, a leader in self-custody, to further establish Revolut as the preferred financial app for crypto investors.”
Recent Crypto Initiatives by Revolut
Revolut has recently launched several key crypto-related initiatives. In March, the company introduced Revolut Ramp, in partnership with MetaMask, targeting customers in the UK and Europe. In May, Revolut expanded its offerings with Revolut X, a trading platform aimed at retail investors in the UK.
