G2A, the digital game vendor, has embarked on a new venture by introducing a dedicated marketplace for non-fungible tokens (NFTs) associated with Web3 games. This move, unveiled on November 15, aims to expand G2A’s offerings by integrating gaming NFTs into its extensive collection of gaming software.
In a statement G2A Capital Group CEO Bartosz Skwarczek highlighted the marketplace’s objective to showcase curated Web3 and NFT games, providing gamers with insights into the evolving landscape of blockchain gaming. Through G2A Geekverse, gamers can explore the world of blockchain gaming and engage in buying and selling digital assets associated with the showcased games.
Skwarczek explained that G2A has been closely monitoring the blockchain gaming sector since the emergence of NFT gaming projects like Cryptokitties. Contrary to some beliefs, the CEO noted that players are already well-acquainted with the blockchain gaming industry, with a significant portion actively participating in Web3 games and NFT trading.
G2A Geekverse serves as an online space tailored for Web3 gaming enthusiasts, offering information about the best Web3 games and creating opportunities for transactions involving digital assets from these games.
This strategic move by G2A aligns with the broader trend of traditional gaming distributors embracing Web3 gaming. Notably, in July, the Google Play Store began accepting NFT games with certain restrictions, allowing games that offer NFTs for sale or as rewards while prohibiting NFT gambling on its platform.
Epic Games, a prominent player in the gaming industry, has also demonstrated a keen interest in Web3 gaming. The Epic Games Store listed Gods Unchained, an NFT collectible trading card game, and is set to feature another blockchain-based game, Illuvium, on its game marketplace on November 28.
As G2A steps into the NFT realm with Geekverse, it not only broadens its product offerings but also contributes to the growing acceptance and integration of blockchain technology within the gaming ecosystem.
